Surely, these games are awesome but what about when you have a friend with you? Local multiplayer games are the answer you’re looking for. And as you’d expect, the mighty Play Store is brimming with them. So the next time you have company, don’t despair. Instead, download these cool games and bring out the genius in you.
1. 2 Player Reactor (Multiplayer)
2 Player Reactor is quite an old player in the multiplayer gaming arena. It’s fun, addictive and a brain teaser, all rolled into one. The quirky questions and puzzles not only requires you to be super smart but also super fast at the same time. So you have a total of 18 games to challenge your partner, it can be anything right from spotting a yellow colored duck to naming the capital of Argentina. You might be thinking, what’s the big deal? Well, the catch is that a wrong answer subtracts a point. So to score the winning trophy, you will have to be smart, fast and correct.
2. Badland
An award-winning game in many areas, Badland sticks to the thumb rule of ‘survival of the fittest’. The background of the game is set amidst a forest and the graphics are amazing and lifelike. You will have to survive through a world of lasers, spikes, rolling wheels waiting to pin down the tiny little fuzzy bird (your character in the game) and a host of other challenges. What’s more, the fuzzy bird can become huge and drown or become puny enough to get lost. Trust me, this is a game where survival isn’t easy but frustrating and challenging.
3. Math Duel: 2 Player Math Game
If you’d want to succeed in Math Duel, the brain and your tapping skills need to be synchronized to the maximum. Similar to 2 Player Reactor, but replace the quirky puzzles with quirky math equations. Just as you might be thinking that you are towards the finishing line, a tap on the wrong answer will take away a point. So be careful as you mull over the math equations for you need to do that at a breakneck speed. There will be four choices to choose from — addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I would say, select all the four options and math-away to the fullest. A fun game and is best played on a large screen device.
4. Glow Hockey 2
Glow Hockey is the digitized rendition of Ice hockey blended with attractive neon lights. This game is likely to steal the hours and requires both of you to master your reflexes to score a point. And as the developers have claimed, the game is easy to play but hard to master. Both the players have to safeguard their goalpost against the opponent’s puck. The colorful graphics lend one of a kind look to this game and if you are not much into ‘glowy things’ you can always change the theme. Glow Hockey 2 is available in both single-player and multiplayer version. Though a relatively captivating game, we recommend you to play this using a device with a bigger screen.
5. Battle Slimes
Battle Slimes is another game that is both exciting and nonsensical, so gather yourself and be prepared to bomb your buddy (digitally of course). It consists of never-tiring bouncy slime blobs and as I mentioned above, you need to shoot out bubbles. The fun part is you get to choose from four different arenas to prove your stomping and hitting abilities.
6. DUAL!
A local multiplayer game, albeit differently. Dual lets you duel with your buddy over a Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth connection (beta). All you need to do is align both the phones into the same network and then prepare to shoot each other. The UI is amazing and the best part is, the whole screen is the battleground. So, if you tilt it, your character slides towards the corner, twirl the phone and the tiny ball twirls around the screen. Initially, it feels as if you’re shooting in the dark, but slowly you get the hang of it. There are three gameplans which you can choose — Duel, Defend and Deflect. Dual is free with some in-app purchases.
7. Chess Free
A local player game list without the mention of a board game? Naah..not happening. So we bring to you the classic game of chess in Chess Free. Surely, I needn’t explain much about the game plan, what makes worth mentioning is that this is one of the best chess games out there, coupled with simple but quality graphics. If you have a decent sized phone, the board size and animations are just about perfect. Whether you are an entry-level chess player or an expert, chances are you will love this one. So battle away and if there was a quote for digital chess, it would be something like “A knight on a phone’s edge is dim”.
Who’s the Winner?
Local multiplayer games are not just entertainers but are great ice-breakers (family get-togethers, anyone?). Let me tell you a secret, in my group the winner treats the rest of us to a round of ice-cream. And who says no to a round of free treats?
